Native Tree Selection
Our most preferred tree selections are native tree species. Native tree species are better acclimated to local environmental and pest challenges. They provide the best opportunity for a successful planting.
Non-Native Resilient Tree Selection
There are certain varieties of trees that have proven themselves quite resilient to varying pest and environmental pressures in numerous locals. While non-native, these varieties can perform well for your property. WIth the ever changing environmental conditions, it is most important that we choose varieties that are capable of resisting drought, temperature fluctuations and wide range of pests.

Mulching
One of the most important practices for the health of trees. Specifically, using arborist wood chips. Arborist wood chips not only help maintain moisture to the root system, but as they break down, they also provide additional nutrition, enzymes, and growth hormones back to the tree. This creates a similar cycle as what you find in a forest.
Compared to typical shredded bark mulch, wood chips also allow for better oxygen circulation to the root system due to the porous nature of the chips.

Grinding
In most circumstances, we aim to grind your stump to a depth of 10-12". The byproduct material that comes from grinding can be left on site for the homeowner to utilize as a high quality mulch, or we can take it away for you.

We request the homeowner confirm there is no risk of underground utilities (Electric, water, communication, irrigation, etc.) being damaged by our equipment. We cannot take responsibility for damaging something we are not able to see. Contact VA811 to assist in identifying unknown services.

Maintenance Before Removal
Our intention is to help you maintain your old mature trees, as opposed to removing them. We are here to help you remove trees in circumstances where a tree poses risk to your home or health. Also, if you have an invasive tree, such as Ailanthus (Tree of Heaven) or Bradford Pear.
Replanting
In order to maintain the tree canopy throughout our beautiful countryside, it is best to plant a few young trees as replacements elsewhere on your property. We can help you with any of your tree planting needs, as well!

Invasive Tree Iradication
If you have invasive trees, such as Ailanthus - Tree of Heaven, populating on your property, we can help reduce the population for you. We practice hack and squirt herbicide application as a targest specific means of applying herbicide. This requires a smaller volume of herbicide to be used and ensures other plants aren't harmed at treatment.
